PLC Sydney held its second Sustainable Fashion Market during lunch on the 6 and 7 November, turning the courtyard into a hub of fashion and sustainability. Hosted by the Sustainable Education and Environmental Development committee (SEED), the market featured racks of pre-loved clothing generously donated by students over the past few weeks, all carefully sorted, priced, and tagged by the dedicated Sustainable Fashion Committee.

The market was the first event under the leadership of Sophie Jamal (2026 Environment and Sustainability Captain), and aimed to provide an opportunity for PLC Sydney students to engage in Sustainable Fashion, highlighting the value of circular fashion instead of always buying first-hand.

âIt was so rewarding to see the students come together to support sustainable fashion,â said Sophie, âThe market was a great place to promote sustainable fashion, showing that it doesnât mean sacrificing style, itâs about making thoughtful choices that benefit both people and the planet.â

The sunny weather added to the cheerful atmosphere as students browsed through the wide range of garments, with affordable, high-quality pieces, everyday basics and unique vintage finds. The committee also managed the checkout and floor on the day, ensuring everything ran smoothly, with all proceeds from the market donated to WIRES, supporting the rescue and rehabilitation of Australian wildlife.

The Sustainable Fashion Market was not only a success in promoting eco-friendly consumption but also in fostering community spirit. Through this initiative, PLC Sydney continues to show that sustainability can be both stylish and achievable and can be integrated into all studentsâ lives. We look forward to seeing what events SEED is planning for 2026.
